Assignment, Week 5: News coverage
Find a subject (a set event, an interesting story) and "cover" it in a photojournalistic style. Remember to also gather
cutline information and use it to write captions for all of your photos:
- Who: who are the subjects in your photo (names, and if relevant: year/major, home city, relation to event or
organization [e.g. president of the group that's protesting, employee at local business, volunteer for NPO, etc.])
- What: what is happening in the particular photo, what the subjects are doing
- When: time of day and date
- Where: where it's happening
- Why: why is the subject matter relevant. Try to relate, or at least mention, the
relation of the subject matter in the image to the overall story
A list of upcoming
events is provided below, but if you know of anything else going on, feel free to use that instead.
Things to consider while shooting
- What story is this photo trying to tell?
- How effective is the photo at illustrating this story?
- Is this story even relevant/important?
