UPDATE - 2009 November 3
- Details for the class night photography trip have been finalized. If you didn't get an email, be sure to join one of the google groups!. You can also find information here: phototrip_nightphotography.php
UPDATE - 2009 October 27
- We are planning a night hike trip to experiment around with long exposure night photography and creative blur techniques that we learned in last week's lecture and this week's discussion presentation by Sean.
The time-frame for the trip is one of the nights next week (2009 November 3-8), in one of the hillside parks near the Berkeley campus. It will likely involve a bit of hiking. If you're interested, fill out the
Doodle poll so we can come up with a date. If you have friends from outside the class, they're welcome to come along too; just have them fill out
the Doodle poll so that I'll have a good count:
UPDATE - 2009 September 27
- If you are taking any of the decal sessions (even if you are just sitting in, not enrolled), please join
all the applicable google groups - all email communication will take place through them.
UPDATE - 2009 September 22
- Having a few issues with the gallery website - login credentials and bspace will be set up and sent to you by morning.
UPDATE - 2009 September 21
UPDATE - 2009 September 21
- Apologies for the long delay in getting the course details finalized. The Photojournalism and Discussion sections will meet 5-6pm and 6-7pm respectively, in 85 Evans.
- As it's somewhat late notice, today's session for both photojournalism and discussion sections will be *optional*. We will discuss the syllabus for upcoming weeks of the course,
so you can come if you'd like, but it is NON-MANDATORY.
UPDATE - 2009 September 15
- A NOTE ABOUT ENROLLMENT:
- Unfortunately, the lecture section won't be able to expand to accomodate all students. The lecture section will instead be expanded by about 10 slots. So if you are #5 or lower on the waitlist on either EE98 or EE198, you should be able to get in. If you are higher than that, then you'll just have to go through the normal telebears process to get in.
- The photojournalism and discussion sections will not be expanded. Enrollment for these classes is handled purely via telebears.
- Everyone is welcome to sit in on the lectures, regardless of whether you are enrolled or not. If you'd like to come to the photojournalism or discussion sections, come to the first session - based on turnout I'll make a decision about
whether people can sit in and/or to what extent you'll be able to participate.
UPDATE - 2009 September 15
- The times for the Discussion and Intro to Photojournalism classes have been finalized. Discussion will take place Monday 6-7pm, and Photojournalism will take place Monday 5-6pm.
- Lecture slides from the first week are posted up, and can be found at lessons.php
UPDATE - 2009 September 14
- Important note - there will be NO discussion or photojournalism section today - the rooms and times for those have not been finalized. LECTURE 7-8PM ONLY.
UPDATE - 2009 September 4
UPDATE - 2009 September 1
- Apologies for the lack of information on this course - details on the CCNs and actual location
and times will hopefully be finalized by the end of the week. The course will likely be taught on Monday
nights. Thus the start date is projected to be on September 14th. CCNs will be posted by Friday, September
4th at the latest.
UPDATE - 2009 July 22
- For those of you just arriving here, this is the site for the Digital Photography Decal.
Yes, the class will be taught during the Fall 2009 semester, although I won't have many of the details set
until sometime in late August. The class is a technical course on the science behind the
photographic process, as well as practical applications and techniques. It does not cover photographic
topics specific to film photography (such as darkroom processing), and does not cover artistic or
aesthetic considerations.
- You can find materials from last semester at /09sp/
- In contract to previous semesters where I had an application, enrollment for the lecture section
will be open to all.
- If you are interested in taking the review/discussion section or Intro to Photojournalism, you MUST
have either taken the "Advanced" or "Theory" classes of the Digital Photo Decal in previous semesters, or
take the Lecture section concurrently. No exceptions, unless you feel you know enough that you might want
to help teach the class. In that case, send me an email.
