This assignment is a sort of psuedo-product photography assignment, but since I didn't really get a chance to go over this in class, let's just call it this:
Having worked with portrait photography a couple weeks ago, and macro photography last week, this week we'll try out "product photography" - an entire portrait-like session dedicated to a single, inanimate object, rather than a live person. Product photography is easier and harder than regular old portraits in a few ways. On one hand, inanimate objects have infinite patience, and you can spend as much time as you want playing with the lighting, changing to different vantage points, and adjusting the subject itself. On the other hand, inanimate objects are fairly static, being inanimate and all. Therefore it's entirely up to you, the photographer, to make the picture - give your subject emotion, give it a personality, sex it up.
All that said, the assignment is fairly open-ended. Choose any inanimate object, and do a "portrait session" with it. All of the important things about portraits and about macro photography apply here, so refer back to the assignment pages for the previous two weeks to get ideas on things to do/keep in mind.
